About cindy wingo

I began work as a graphic designer and returned to my painting and drawing over 30 years ago.
In the beginning, my work was very realistic, but after a few years I began expressing myself through Abstraction and never looked back. I find abstract painting to be a sanctuary in which I can communicate so many things. Each painting tells its own story, which is why I call them Abstract Narratives.

Painting has allowed me to work through some of the weighted questions in life, both politically and personally. I don’t believe that the artists choose art; it is art that chooses us. It is my life force, my footprint, my souls private podium. My hope is to inspire and communicate to others through my work.

Description of Work

My paintings are large in format. My medium is generally acrylic with mixed media. I paint what I feel, not what I see, and have always believed that natural shapes are perfect despite their sometimes imperfect appearance. They’re a regular resource for my work.
