Ninth Ward

Ninth Ward

$145.00

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina  hit the Gulf Coast and New Orleans—one of the deadliest hurricanes ever recorded. One of the hardest hit areas was the Ninth Ward in New Orleans. The blue in the upper right corner signifies the water flooding the city after the levees broke. The shape on the top left is a crane picking up a house after the flood. And in the lower right, a row of houses with blood over the door hoping for God’s protection. The negative space between the houses appears to be martini glasses—an homage to the party town that New Orleans once was and will be again.
