A flag represents many things. Our American flag has been used to display our nationalism, as well as our rebellion.  The colors of the flag are symbolic as well: red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.

 This abstraction of the American flag is without stars and stripes in an effort to have us stop and reflect on it’s original meaning. How can we as American’s claim to be pure and innocent or to be seeking justice when individuals of color in our country don’t have the same rights and are not treated as equals?
